Our prayer time should always start by us allowing God to talk to us & to lead us in prayer. The Lord speaks to us through that voice that comes to our mind from our heart, from our inner man, and it will never contradict His Word, if that voice would contradict the Scriptures it is because it is not the voice of His Spirit, and it is important to learn to discern His voice.
Jesus recommends us not to use vain repetitions when we pray, since our Heavenly Father is not stupid, as it is not hard to imagine someone in front of The Most High repeating the same thing over & over again as if He were deaf, or lacked understanding.
However, besides the prayers the Holy Spirit leads us to pray & which are part of our personal fellowship with our wonderful Loving Father, & part of our daily walk with Him, there are prayers that we can copy for the wonderful things we can pray for if we use them.
If the Apostle Paul was led of the Holy Spirit to say these prayers, why not use them to pray for us as well, for our own family, our friends.
In the letter to the Ephesians chapter 3:
Eph 3:14-21 For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever. Amen.
So when I use it for myself, I go… I bow my knees before You, my Father, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, that You would grant me, according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened with might by Your Spirit in my inner man; that Christ may dwell in my heart by faith; that I, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, of the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that I might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to You dear Father who are able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in me, to You be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever. Amen.
In the same letter to the Ephesians:
Eph 1:16-21 I don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him; you may know what is the hope of his calling, & what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, & what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of His might which He worked in Christ, when He raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the Heavenly Places, far above all rule, & authority, & power, & dominion, & every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come.
As we put this prayer in our own words it is overwhelming to realize what we are praying for, when we meditate on these requests… that the Father of Glory may give to us the spirit of…
- Wisdom… the ability to use our knowledge and experience to make good decisions and judgments, & whatever else you may add to that.
That we may…
- The hope of the Creator’s calling in our lives. It’s quite something to meditate upon: The Hope of God calling us to Him. Hope: waiting for something to happen & become true in this world, and usually have a good reason to think that it might be, in our case: the never failing Promises of our God.
- What are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the Saints? If God owns the whole world, both physical & spiritual, we figure His Riches are infinite as well, & we are now heirs of them all with Christ. Gal 4:7
- What is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us… It sure is phenomenal. Hey, the power of God is on our side.
Remember Jesus said..
Jn 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples.
So friends, the will of God is that we bear much fruit, not little fruit…
Jn 15:16 You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever you shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you.
So… Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.
What God asks us to do is impossible for us, but not for Him, & He dwells in us, so if we surrender to Him and allow Him to use us, there is no limit to what we will accomplish, remembering that He is the one who gets all the glory, for it is He who does it all.
1Co 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own, for you are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
Some more of Paul’s prayers…
Col 1:9-14 For this cause we also, since the day we heard, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you might walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in every work and increasing in the knowledge of God, being empowered with all power, according to the might of His glory, to all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness, giving thanks to the Father, who has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. For He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son; in whom we have redemption through His blood, the remission of sins.
Father fill me with the knowledge of Your Will in all wisdom & spiritual understanding, so I can walk worthy of you, & please you in all I do, fruitful in every work & increasing in the knowledge of You, empowered with all power, according to the might of your glory, to all patience, & long-suffering, full of joy. Thank you that I have been delivered from the power of darkness & that I have already been translated into your Kingdom, because the remission of all my sins through the precious Blood of Jesus;
Of course, we can also use other prayers found in the Bible, especially those of the New Testament. The Holy Spirit will always guide us when we pray.
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
When we pray for our loved ones, let’s remember some of these requests.
Let us ask HIGH! All things are ours when we pray according to His Will. And His Will is that we be fruitful in all things!
I’d appreciate if you send me a note, if this reading has been a blessing to you.
