Christmas

Christmas under a Biblical perspective.

Many of you are aware that there is a growing number of Christians who oppose the celebration of Christmas. Here are some of the reasons...

First, because Jesus was not born in December; The Gospel of Luke tells us that when Jesus was born, the shepherds cared for their flocks at night. This helps us perceive that the birth of Jesus was not in winter, since the shepherds in Palestine did not take their sheep out during the winter, because of the cold weather. If the birth of Jesus had occurred during the winter, the sheep would have been in their pens.

The Gospel of Luke also points out that Jesus' parents came to Bethlehem to register for a Roman census (Luke 2: 1-4). Taking a census, in which citizens were obliged to travel to their city or hometown, would have been difficult in December because of the harsh winter conditions.

And although the birth of Jesus has been commemorated for a many years now on December 25, the Christians of the Early Church did not celebrate the birth of Jesus in the first centuries after Christ, or at least, there is no record of it. A Roman almanac documented the oldest known celebration of Christmas by the church of Rome in 336 AD, which led researchers to believe that Christmas originated as a Christian substitute for the pagan festivities of the winter solstice. Each December, the Romans honored Saturn, the god of agriculture, during a festival called Saturnalia.

Over time, some Christians began accepting December 25 as Jesus' birthday, while other pagan elements were incorporated into the Christmas tradition, such as the use of Christmas trees, which predate the birth of Christianity. These facts are fairly well documented.

What is true is that the celebration of Christmas, or the birth of Jesus, has become the biggest festivity of the year in the Western world, and that which generates more economic gains than any other.

2Co 4:3-4 But also if our gospel is hidden, it is hidden to those being lost, in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving ones, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ (who is the image of God) should not dawn on them.

In view of that, we should not be outwitted by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his devices;

It is important to understand that Satan was not going to sit around watching the whole world turning to celebrate the coming of Jesus into the world. And what do we see in the world now? Well, the devil has managed to move the attention of the world from the one to whom we say we are celebrating the birthday of, to other activities that have nothing to do with Jesus.

Satan has managed to change what should be a "Christian" celebration into a pagan festivity.

Many signs and "Christmas cards" no longer say "Merry Christmas" but "Happy Holidays".

And where Jesus should be the center of the celebration, instead we see the figure of "Santa Claus", or San Nicolas, Santa Claus, or Santa, who for many is the central figure of Christmas. We can sit down & watch a lot of movies, listen to songs, magazines, stories, supposedly about Christmas, where Jesus is simply not mentioned at all, but "Santa" (a devil disguised as a fatty and fatherly grandfather) and all his elves, etc. (imps & little demons), are the ones responsible for a "Happy Holidays", and where it is no longer Merry Christmas, or Happy Christmas, but "Happy Holidays", "Happy Xmas" all very cleverly presented in an atmosphere of tenderness, kindness, etc., but Christ has been totally eliminated, & the one who receives the glory for inspiring people to do good deeds is the “spirit of Xmas” & not the Spirit of God.

It is no wonder that many Christians want to get away from participating in a worldly celebration that has nothing to do with the one True God.

Nevertheless, although Jesus was not born in December, many Christians, me included, to take the advantage of this season when the world takes the time to at least recognize that Jesus came into this world, to remind the world what a true celebration of Jesus’ Birth should be about and we also seize the opportunity to celebrate in the intimacy of our homes the great gift that God gave us in his Son Jesus.

We celebrate the gift of God the Father to the world... Jesus our beloved Savior and Redeemer; Besides it is a great time to celebrate God's love for us & what a privilege it is, to have been given a place as Sons/Daughters in His Family, & we also rejoice that He continues to work in us, & make us better representatives of His Love to the lost & dying world.

During this season, many good Christians take advantage of the Christmas Celebrations to share the love of Jesus with their neighbors, but especially helping to supply the need of many who are in lacking, laying hands those who are sick, comforting those who have a broken heart, & leading them to God, sharing gifts, to help them see how great the Love of God is for them too. Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.”

So in this season to those who love Jesus Christ and delight in him, as well as all to those who desire a better world where truth reins, we wish them a fruitful Happy Celebration of Jesus’ Birthday, where they may share His love with all those around them.

Here some passages about what his coming meant to us & to those who are seeking salvation. Please read them slowly & meditate upon these amazing verses.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

1Jn 4:10-11 In this the love of God was revealed in us, because God sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation concerning our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Gal 4:4-7 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, coming into being out of a woman, having come under Law, that He might redeem those under Law, so that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba (dear Daddy), Father. So that you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ:

HAPPY CHRISTMAS…!!! Alejandro
