God The Trinity

To talk about God and the fact that God is defined in the Bible as only “One God” in three Persons, God the Father, Jesus the only Begotten Son of God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, I will begin by describing Jesus, because I will mainly use Jesus’ own teachings about the Father & the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ, The Son

It’s very important to point out the Jesus rose from the dead. Besides the Bible, there are very many true historic writings that corroborate that Jesus did rise from the dead. I will not provide links to those pages, as here, I will only use the Bible, but if you know how to use a trusted search engine in the web, you can find many of them.

The apostle Paul wrote1Co 15:3-8 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures; and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the Twelve. Afterward He was seen by over five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain until this present day, but also some fell asleep. Afterward He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. And last of all He was seen by me also, as one born out of time.

You see, Jesus is unique in every way, because He rose from the dead, He is alive now.

Mat 28:20b behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.

Notice, Mohammad, Confucius, Siddhartha Gautama, Guru Arjan, A. C. B. S. Prabhupada and all other men who started a religion in the world, are now dead & buried. Not one of those religious men could raise the dead, as Jesus did, healed multitudes, healing all manners of diseases, cast out devils, command the winds & the waves of the ocean, walk over a raging sea, turn water into wine in matter of seconds, feed tens of thousands in the wilderness away from the cities with only a handful of fishes & bread, be seen by his disciples as a Spirit with face shining as the sun, and His clothing white as the light, those are some of the characteristic of Jesus. All other religious leaders vanish before Him, Luk 6:19, Jn 11:43, Mat 8:16, 14:26, 36, 17:1-2 Luk 8:24, Jn 2:7-8

Jesus told us in the Bible, that He dwells in the physical body of those who believe in Him, & would be within us… Jn 14:20 At that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. All other religious men, do not count with the presence of their God with them as they either have to look either towards Mecca if they are Muslims, others go inside their temples, or their altars, so they can say prayers to their god, without any surety that their prayers are being heard, or will even be heard, much less answered. Whereas we Christians… 1Jn 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. Wow!

None other could have said Mat 24:35 The heaven and the Earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away.

We read in the book of Revelation that an angel instructs the apostle John... Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, See, do not do it! I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

We see in the Bible therefore, that only God is worthy of worship, none other.

Rev 5:11-14 And I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, and the living creatures and the elders. And the number of them was myriads and myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing. And I heard every creature which is in the Heaven and on the earth, and under the earth, and those that are in the sea, and all who are in them, saying, Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him sitting on the throne, and to the Lamb forever and ever. And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the One living forever and ever.

There we have, everything in Heaven & Earth worshiped God & the Lamb. We read in several scriptures that when Jesus went up to Heaven & sat at the Right Hand of God.

Heb 1:1-3 God, who at many times and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds, who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image of His essence, and upholding all things by the word of His power, through Himself cleansing of our sins, He sat down on the right of the Majesty on high.

In that passage we see another description of Jesus, where we are told He upholds “all things created” by the word of His power. Wow, no prophet ever can do that. You see anybody that says Jesus was just another prophet, is calling Jesus a false prophet, because they don't believe in what Jesus said... I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by MeJn 14:6

God, through Jesus, took care of man’s main problem with his sinful condition, He took us, He cleansed us & made us Holy, so we are now reconciled with Him.

Rev 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for You were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation.

There are many other passages telling us about Jesus’ sacrifice to redeem us from sin, which means Jesus paid off for our sins, taking upon Him the chastisement for our sins, & made us Holy, bestowing upon us the Righteousness of God, therefore now we can be inhabited by God & His Holy Spirit, which because of our sins, He couldn’t do before Jesus was glorified, as God can not cohabit with sin. See…

Heb 10:14-22 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified. The Holy Spirit also is a witness to us; for after He had said before, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord; I will put My Laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them," also He adds, "their sins and their iniquities I will remember no more." Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Therefore, brothers, having boldness to enter into the Holy of Holies by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He has consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies having been washed with pure water.

2Co 5:21 For He has made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jn 7:38-39 He who believes on Me, as the Scripture has said, "Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (But He spoke this about the Spirit, which they who believed on Him should receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

You see, all religions, including many Christian churches, the Jewish religions, Islam & all others instruct their believers that unless they keep a list of commandments they will not be able to come to God, which is more or less telling them, they won’t be able to reach salvation, because man’s sinful condition doesn’t allow man to keep commandments. So all religious people live under constant condemnation, because no matter how hard they may try, they always fail in one thing or the other, & all those religious people who manage to keep their behavior more or less in line, turn out to be the worst of them all, and become self-righteous, trusting in their own goodness & condemning all others around them for not being as “good” as they think they themselves are, just as the scribes & pharisees of Jesus’ day & many religious people of today.

But we find in the Bible, that God knowing we couldn’t make it, He did it for us, where we see the great love God had for us, notice, not one leader of other religions ever died for his follower. Jn 15:13 No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 1Jn 3:16 By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 1Jn 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Because of His great Love then...

Tit 3:3 For we ourselves also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, slaving for various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that being justified by His grace, we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. There we see the Trinity working to save us, God's Children.

Now God’s nature in those who receive salvation by faith in Jesus, are moved & motivated to keep commandments which we couldn’t keep before…

1Jn 3:9 Everyone who has been born of God cannot keep on being sinful, forGod’s seed remains in him, and he cannot live in sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the Devil: everyone not practicing righteousness is not of God, also he who does not love his brother.

So all the above presented Jesus as God, worthy of worship, now Jesus telling us about His Father & Our Father God…

God the Father

Mat 6:4b And your Father who sees in secret Himself shall reward you openly.

Mat 6:14-15 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Mat 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him?

Mat 11:25-26 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank You, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the sophisticated and cunning, and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

Mar 14:36 And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to You. Take away this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.

Jn 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.

Jn 5:23 so that all should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Jn 10:30 I and the Father are one!

Jn 12:49 For I have not spoken of Myself, but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say, and what I should speak.

Jn 14:8-11 Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us. Jesus said to him, Have I been with you such a long time and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. And how do you say, Show us the Father? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me? The Words that I speak to you I do not speak of Myself, but the Father who dwells in Me, He does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the very works themselves.

Those are only a few passages of the many things Jesus told us about our Heavenly Father… He sees even the secret things, He forgives us when we forgive, He is a loving Father, He hides things from the self-conceited & reveals them to the simple, all things are possible for Him, the Father is Spirit, Jesus is one with the Father therefore he that dishonors the Son dishonors the Father also, & all Jesus said He heard the Father, all the works of Jesus were done by the Father,

There are many more passages, but those are to give us a general concept.

Holy Spirit God

Jesus, on the Holy Spirit

Jn 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees Him not, neither knows Him: but ye know Him; for He dwells with you, and shall be in You!

Jn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Jn 15:26-27 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Jn 16:12-13 I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. For He shall not speak of Himself, but whatever He hears, He shall speak. And He will announce to you things to come.

Mat 10:19-20 But when they deliver you up, don’t be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

Mat 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in Earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.

Act 1:8 But you shall receive POWER, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me through out all the world.

Jesus then taught, the Holy Spirit was within him, He dwells with you (because He Jesus dwelt with the disciples), but He (the Holy Spirit) shall be in You (us the disciples), the Holy Spirit from the Father is sent to us by the Father, whom will be our guide, our teacher, our helper, our reminder, He the Holy Spirit will speak through us & testify with us & through His Power within us we can do the same works as Jesus.

Other passages from the New Testament where we see more about the Trinity.

Mat 3:16 And Jesus, when He had been baptized, went up immediately out of the water. And lo, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him. And lo, a voice from Heaven (The Father), saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Jn 1:32-34 And John bore record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove, and He abode on Him. And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water, that One(The Father)said to me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon Him, He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I saw and bore record that this is the Son of God.

Act 2:32-33 God raised up this Jesus, of which we all are witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured out this which you now see and hear.

Act 7:55 But being full of the Holy Spirit, looking up intently into Heaven, he saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

Act 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and He went about doing good, and healing all those who were oppressed by the Devil, for God was with Him.

Rom 15:16 that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the nations, ministering the gospel of God, so that the offering up of the nations might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

2Co 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

The Holy Spirit working through Jesus… Luk 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee. And a report went out throughout all the neighborhood concerning Him.

If you read & meditate upon all these Scriptures, you will see how The Father, Jesus, & The Holy Spirit, always work together & in unity, to accomplish what God wants done, not one time do any of them does anything apart from the others, that, we could argue is one of the characteristics of the Trinity, but people from the world, will never be able to understand as the Bible clearly states...

1Co 2.9-14 But as it is written, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard," nor has it entered into the heart of man, "the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of man within him? So also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit from God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that He may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
