Good News = The Gospel

Dear friend, have you heard the "Good News"?... and what are they? There is salvation for your Spirit, and Soul, as well as healing for your Body. But salvation from what?

Well, as we all notice, the world is not in good shape. We hear of terrible wars being fought in the world, diseases and plagues that overwhelm mankind, great economic problems that point to a great world depression, people seem to have lost love and joy, and evil is multiplying more and more every day. Most churches continue in their religious rituals and seem to be as deluded as many other institutions. There are also climatic problems, such as earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, volcanoes, and others, and to top it all, the governments that run the world, responsible for the current problems, are involved in great corruption scandals, and integrity and honesty no longer seem to exist in modern politicians.

But in spite of all that, the greatest news continues to be the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But how so?

All the religions of the world tell us that the only way to approach God is by keeping a list of commandments, and what's more, God, according to that argument, is aggrieved with us. But the good news is that according to the Bible, God knows very well that neither you nor I have the ability to keep the whole list of commandments by dint of good will. So that is why God sent Jesus about two thousand years ago, to save his children, who are scattered throughout the world, from all these problems, and also from the evil that is in the world.

Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only Begotten Son, that whoever believes in him, will not perish, but have everlasting life.

So Jesus came to this world, He did keep all the commandments of the law of Moses, because His nature is holy, He allowed Himself to be crucified on a cross, and thus offered His life in sacrifice to pay for the sins of all those who accept His offering by receiving Him as Lord of our lives. So that you see that this is not my opinion, but God himself affirms this in his Word, the Bible says....

Rom 3:22-26 The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

That is to say, since sins are offenses that require punishment, Jesus received the punishment you and I deserved for having sinned by doing evil to those around us and to ourselves. And that is what the word "redemption" means. It is as if we had a debt in the bank that we could not pay, and Jesus came forward and paid the debt for us, so we are now debt free.

2Co 5:21 For our sake He made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Heb 10:12-14 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

And, what to do to receive this forgiveness, this salvation? Well then… Rom 10:9-10 Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

When we accept Jesus as Lord of our life, we are clothed with the Righteousness of God, God gives us a new nature, which motivates us to turn away from sin and fills us with love for our neighbor. The glory belongs to God. You see, is not because of good works that we may do, otherwise we would glory in our good deeds, but being saved by the grace of God, motivate us to fulfill God's commandments to love Him & our neighbors as ourselves, His Love within us is seen as we share His Love with others. As the apostle John writes...

1Jn 3:7-8  Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that He might destroy the works of the devil.

But if God Almighty, only saved our soul, and left us either sick, or in poverty, then, He would not be such a great God. So one of his prophets, Isaiah, some 730 years before Christ came, prophesied about Jesus' life and wrote...Isa 53:3-5 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces, He was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely He has borne our sicknesses, and He carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him plagued, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His wounds we ourselves are healed.

Can you see it? By his wounds suffered when He was martyred, we are healed. And this is reaffirmed in the New Testament... Mat 8:16-17 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

This is also reaffirmed by the Apostle Peter… 1Pe 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

So, in order to receive the salvation for our souls and healing for our bodies that God provided, we only have to believe, since Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek him.

Mar 9:23 Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

You may be thinking, and how can I believe the Bible? My question to you is: would you rather believe men, who have proven time and again to be liars? Do you know an honest politician? “But we have to follow the science”... What science? The one that tells you that the world came into being from an explosion billions of years ago, without even one speck of a valid proof to go by. Sometimes when I have to talk to an evolutionist, I ask him... listen, how is it that from that Big Ban explosion, the salt of our world only fell into the waters of the sea, and the water of all the rivers is fresh, although all the rivers go to the sea, the sea is always salty, even after thousands of years of receiving fresh water from the rivers? And how is it that the fruit trees in order to survive, evolved and brought out of the earth that has no sugar, all those sweet fruits, some very sweet and delicious, so that later we would come to eat them and enjoy them? And the flowers and trees in the fields, full of the most beautiful color and beauty? the product of an explosion?

In what evolutionary process did the bees learn to make honey?

And the simplest question of all they cannot answer... tell me... from that explosion, where did life come from?

Friends, we cannot be so naive as to believe everything that the rulers of this world want us to believe in order to turn us away from God. Did you know that in China & other communist countries it is forbidden to have a Bible, under penalty of imprisonment. And how is it that a Bible can be so dangerous for a communist system? Very simple... Jn 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to the Jews who believed on Him, If you continue in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Knowing and living the truth makes you free, and when the rulers want to manipulate and enslave us, the Bible becomes a problem for them. That is why here in non-communist countries, with modern education and constant propaganda in the media, they make you think that the Bible is an outdated and anachronistic book, only for old religious women, but Jesus said…

Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

and Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

If you don't have a Bible, you can download one from the web, or buy one online. I recommend the "English Standard Version", or the "Modern King James Version" which have a very good translation.

Reading the Bible is our spiritual food from which our faith comes from. It is important when we go before God to pray, to know the promises He has given us. God has promised us not only eternal life, but also health for our soul and our physical bodies, as well as providing for our needs, in a healthy and productive godly life. And in a world full of evil, lies, & deceptions, God's protection is fundamental, because even though our physical body dies, our soul will continue to live, and we will be resurrected with Christ in the near future.

1Tes 4:15-14 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Finally, meet with practicing Christians who are active, because the people around us have a powerful influence on us. They will either help you go forward, or slow you down. Hence the saying... tell me who you hang out with and I will tell you what you are like.

If you have questions be sure to write me. Blessings… Alejandro
