Let’s have Faith

Having Faith in the God of the Bible means: Do I believe what Jesus said, or what the Bible says? If my answer is YES, then I have Faith.

Many Christians say they believe the Bible, but if I ask them a couple of questions I find out right away the only believe in certain Bible passages, but not in all the Bible.

For example…

Mat 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying: All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in Earth. Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you always until the end of the age. Amen.

Until the end means He is with us today as He was with his disciples of that time. The difference is that His presence today is within us in the Spirit, like He was with his disciples in the book of Acts, He was within them, & He is now within us too.

Why did He affirm: All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in Earth. I see that He wants us to know, for sure, that absolutely everything in under His command.

Now do you believe He lives within you ever since you accepted Him as Lord of your life?

As we believe that God the Father always answered Jesus prayers. Read & think about Jesus’ prayer in John 17…

Jn 17:20-23 And I do not pray for these alone, but for those also who will believe on Me through their word, that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. And I have given them the glory which You have given Me, that they may be one, even as We are one: I in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.

Also because we are a members of God’s Ecclesia, or Church, we are now part of Jesus’ body, no matter what church denomination you go to, what makes us part of God’s Church is that we have been born again when accepted the Lordship of Jesus in our lives: Rom 10:9-10

Col 1:18 And He (Jesus) is the Head of the body, the Church, who is the Beginning, the First-born from the dead, that He may be pre-eminent in all things.

Eph 1:22-23 And He has put all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Eph 4:11-13 And truly He gave some to be apostles, and some to be prophets, and some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. And this until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

That passage lets us know how much God wants us to grow.

The above passage of Mat 28:18-20 is also in Marc 16 and Marc recorded it writing…

Mar 16:15-20 And He said to them, Go into all the world, and proclaim the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Then indeed, after speaking to them, the Lord was taken up into Heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And going out, they proclaimed everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the Word by miraculous signs following. Amen.

So if we believe in those passages; then because Jesus affirmed that He is with us always, when we lay hands on the sick they will get healed why? Because it is Jesus in us who will get them healed, just as He did when He was personally here on Earth, and then later on in the book of Acts through his disciples, remember He has total authority over all principalities, devils, sicknesses etc., only that now He is here in us & will do miracles through us. That is simple enough, if we believe Mar 9:23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Remember: Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Now, if we expect God to answer our prayers we have to do it as He instructed us to, since doing it our way won’t work, & really He couldn’t have explained it more simply…

Mar 11:22-24 And answering Jesus said to them, Have faith of God. For truly I say to you that whoever shall say to this mountain, Be moved and be cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he said shall occur, he shall have whatever he said. Therefore I say to you, All things, whatever you ask, praying, believe that you shall receive them, and you will have them.

Now… if you were God, how would you like that you as his Son would go to get help for whatever you need with someone else & then maybe turn to Him if nothing else worked out.

I recommend you read the passage about king Asa of Judah, 2 Chronicles 16, who when things got difficult sought the help of others, instead of turning to Yahweh who had always been there for him, and ended up dying in disgrace.

2Ch 16:9 For Yahweh’s eyes run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is completely his.

Of course none of God’s promises will become true for you unless you get up & go put them into practice. The apostle James says…

James 1:22-25 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

The reason why when you read the Bible you look at yourself, in the words of James, is because it is Jesus in you who you look at when you read it, but if you go away & don’t do what it tells you to do, then you forget you are to look as Jesus, & you deceive yourself.

Let’s remember that Jesus is the Word… In the beginning was the Word… Jn 1:1,14, that’s why the Word reflects Jesus in you if you do his Word.

On the other hand if you are a doer of the Word, then you will be blessed in what you do. The only way to learn anything at all is to practice doing it; you will never learn anything that you don’t practice.

In case you haven’t understood God already told you in His Word that you are to go out & reach for the lost, healed the sick & liberate the oppressed, I am going to spell it for you.

Jas 2:8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well.

Jn 15:17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

If you love yourself, & you should, then you are going to love your neighbor, then if he is lost, you will share with him the way to salvation, if he is sick you will lay hands on him & get him healed, if he is being oppressed by an evil spirit, you will cast it out of him, if he is hungry, you will help him get food, etc. Why? Freely you have received, freely give!

If you give your all to God, which in reality is not much compared with what God gives to those who give their all to Him, life becomes a thrill & truly worth living

Rev 21:7 He who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.

But if you don’t obey God’s Word, then you will remain a mediocre Christian for the rest of your life, & your reward in Heaven will be according to your works here. Rev 22:12 And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each according as his work is.

Remember everything in this life is temporal… Col 3:1-4 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Be mindful of things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God. When Christ our Life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
