Passages of Scripture that every good Christian should know by Heart 1

Dear friends. The following are very important biblical passages that we must know very well, better yet, that we know by memory.

As Children of the Most High God, we must be well armed with the Sword of the Spirit that is the Word of God, otherwise we will not have the spiritual strength to stand firm in the times we live in, nor be of much help to those who are still out there lost in the world and in need of help. There is no time to waste and we have no excuses that we are too busy reading the news, or watching TV, the Internet, worldly movies, or watching favorite sports. We are in a spiritual warfare and if we are not ready, we will be prey for the demons that fight us one way or another. Also, how do we pray? The Holy Spirit tells us... 2Ti 2:15 Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth. Are we not presenting ourselves before God when we pray? I pray that the Lord will inspire you to put Him first in your life, if you haven't already, let’s make sure that we’ll be rejoicing the day we go be with Him.

Eternal Salvation

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. 1 John 3:16 By this we know love, because He laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Rom 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with Me.

Rom 10:9-10 Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God,

9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. John 10:27-30 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

28 And I give to them eternal life, and they shall never ever perish, and not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand.

29 My Father who gave them to me is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand.

30 I and the Father are one!

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no other One; for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

The Holy Spirit

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so that He may be with you forever,

17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see Him nor know Him. But you know Him, for He dwells with you and shall be in you.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you.

John 15:26 And when the Comforter has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of Me.

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. For He shall not speak of Himself, but whatever He hears, He shall speak. And He will announce to you things to come.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

1Cor 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own.

Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?

Luke 3:16 John answered all, saying, I indeed baptize you with water, but He who is mightier than I comes, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to lose. He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Love

John 17:23 I in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.

John 15:12-13 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

13 No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 13:34-35 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. As I have loved you, you should also love one another.

35 By this all shall know that you are My disciples, if you have love toward one another.

1John 4:16-19 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

17 In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so also we are in this world.

18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment. He who fears has not been perfected in love.

19 We love Him because He first loved us.

1Cor 16:14 Let all that you do be done in love.

Rom 13:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Gal 5:14 For all the Law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

1Jn 3:14,16 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love his brother abides in death.

16 By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

1Jn 3:18 My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.

Our Identity in Christ

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, He gave to them authority to become the children of God, to those who believe on His name. Rom 8: 17 And if we are children, then we are heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; so that if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified together. Gal 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

7 So that you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ. 2Cor 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

18 But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

21 For Him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

1John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

3 And everyone who has this hope on him purifies himself, even as He is pure. John 17:20 And I do not pray for these alone, but for those also who shall believe on Me through their word,

21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.

22 And I have given them the glory which You have given Me, that they may be one, even as We are one,

23 I in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.

Apocalipse 1:5 even from Jesus Christ the faithful Witness, the First-born from the dead and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

6 and made us kings and priests to God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Our Life in Christ

John 14:12 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father.

13 And whatever you may ask in My name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. 1John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and you have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1John 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith. 2Cor 5:20-21 We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

21 For Him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

2Tim 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Fil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 1Cor 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Cor 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God by us. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give to you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Rom 5: 17 For if by one man's offense death reigned by one, much more they who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.)

Faith

Hebrews 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to be pleasing to Him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Rom 10:17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.

Mar 11:22 And answering Jesus said to them, Have faith of God.

23 For truly I say to you that whoever shall say to this mountain, Be moved and be cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he said shall occur, he shall have whatever he said.

24 Therefore I say to you, All things, whatever you ask, praying, believe that you shall receive them, and you will have them.

Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

7 For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

8 A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Rom 14:23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because it isn’t of faith; and whatever is not of faith is sin.

Rom 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

Our Prayer Life

Mat 6:5-6 And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

6 But you, when you pray, enter into your room. And shutting your door, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.

Mat 7:7 Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.

8 For each one who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, if his son asks a loaf, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he asks a fish, will he give him a snake?

11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him?

Mat 18:18-20 Truly I say to you, Whatever you shall bind on earth shall occur, having been bound in Heaven; and whatever you shall loose on earth shall occur, having been loosed in Heaven.

19 Again I say to you that if two of you shall agree on earth as regarding anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them by My Father in Heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.

Mar 11:24-25 24 Therefore I say to you, all things, whatever you ask, praying, believe that you shall receive them, and you will have them.

25 And when you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive it so that also your Father in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Luke 18:1 And He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.

John 16:23 And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give you.

24 Before now you have asked nothing in My name; ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.

John 16:26 At that day you will ask in My name; and I do not say to you that I will pray to the Father for you,

27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came out from God.

Rom 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Ephe 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Filp 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

7 And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

1Ti 2:1 First of all, then, I exhort that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,

2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence;

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.

1Pe 3:7 You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.
