Beloved Brethren & Friends…
The Apostle Peter borrows a few lines from Psalm 34 and writes…
1Pe 3:10-14 For, “He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 13 Now who is he who will harm you, if you become imitators of that which is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.”
Meditating a bit over that passage, there are some important aspects that come to mind:
- if we want to live a good life, we are to keep our mouth from speaking evil (the wrong things), turn away from evil & do good, knowing that the eyes of the Lord are upon us & his ears are attentive to our prayers.
Let´s meditate upon this…
We know we are righteous, not because anything good that we had done, but because of what Jesus did while here on earth & His sacrifice on the Cross, so God gave us Jesus’ righteousness at Calvary…
2Co 5:21 For him who knew no sin He made to be sin on our behalf; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
So it is Jesus’ righteousness in us which enable us to depart from evil & do good, so that now… The eyes of the Lord are upon us & his ears are attentive to our prayers!
Now the Apostle John wrote…
1Jn 5:14 This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, He listens to us. 15 And if we know that He listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
It overwhelms me to know that I can have anything I ask from my Heavenly Father. Most Christian argue: See it has to be according to His Will, to which I answer back: why would I want to have something that my Father doesn’t want me to have? All I want to have is all He wants to give me, which His Word defines as anything.
1Jn 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him
Jn 15:7-8 If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you. 8 In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you shall be My disciples.
Mat 7:11 If you then, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him?
There are quite a few more passages that reassure us of God answering our prayers, but let those suffice for now.
So, when we know we are righteous, & that we can have anything we ask for, then we know that we are definitely endowed to do God’s Will here & be His Representatives, His Ambassadors, in Bible Words…
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God had before ordained that we should walk in them.
Joh 15:16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you.
Col 1:9 For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, don’t cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy;
2Co 5:19-20 whereas God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and putting the word of reconciliation in us. 20 Then we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as God exhorting through us, we beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
So that if you believe the above, then you are empowered with the same Holy Spirit that Jesus had, to go out & share His Love with the broken people in this world, cast out devils & get the sick healed, & share Jesus with those who still don’t know God.
Heb 12:2 looking to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right of the throne of God.
So we are also sitting with Jesus in the Heavenlies. (WOW!)
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love with which He loved us 5 (even when we were dead in sins) has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved), 6 and has raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus.
So, is there any joy set before us, which will help us endure our cross? Well let’s read the next passages & meditate upon them. I will explain why I used 2Th 1:10 as a title in this letter.
2Th 1:10 when He (Jesus) shall come to be glorified in His saints and to be admired in all those who believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that Day.
So when Jesus comes back He shall be glorified in His Saints and to be admired in all those who believe. Well, what is that mean?
His work in us will be admired in us…
1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed; 52 in a moment, in a glance of an eye, at the last trumpet. For a trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this corruptible shall put on incorruption, and when this mortal shall put on immortality, then will take place the word that is written, "Death is swallowed up in victory.
Dan 12:2-3 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and those who turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever and ever.
Col 3:4 When Christ our Life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the Sons of God.
Rom 8:32 Truly He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Dan 7:18 But the Saints of the Most High shall take the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever;
Dan 7:22 until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the Saints of the Most High. And the time came that the Saints possessed the kingdom.
So as we read those passages, which are amazing, we can follow Jesus’ example of looking ahead of us to our near future, for the joy that is set before us it’ll help us to endured our cross.
Jud 1:24-25 Now to Him being able to keep you without stumbling, and to set you before His glory without blemish, with unspeakable joy; 25 to the only wise God, our Savior, be glory and majesty and might and authority, even now and forever. Amen.
Beloved, meditate in all those passages. I am personally flipping out & jumping for joy. There is absolutely nothing in this world that can even begging to compare with what our God has set up before us.
Blessings… Alejandro
